With the vast majority of our clients, we go through an intensive onboarding process that is specifically designed to ensure we understand your company and industry as well as possible, as well as sharing with you best practise from the field of marketing. This opens us both up to thinking outside of the box and gives us a shared marketing language from which to draw as we move forward. 

We have our own proprietary process known as the I.D.I.O.T.S. Guide to Marketing, which covers all the fundamentals of marketing and gives the opportunity to delve into specific parts of it.

As part of the Strategic Consultancy work, you will be provided with a Marketing Playbook document that solidifies all of that thinking and gives you a roadmap for the next 12 months.

We’ll agree which channels you should be using, what their role is within your marketing mix, what type of content should be featured on them and what the KPIs will be. This mix will specifically lay out how the channels will work together to complement and enhance the results of each.

The I.D.I.O.T.S. Guide stands for:
  • Industry – uncovering points of differentiation against your competitors
  • Disciples – identifying your target customer and their purchase journey
  • Identity – cementing your brand personality, tone of voice and visual identity
  • Opportunities – planning campaigns and spotting relevant subjects for reactive content
  • Tactics – picking the best channels and content to build the perfect marketing mix
  • Scorecard – attaching relevant metrics to your activity covering the whole customer journey


On a retainer basis, X-CMO can work with your existing in-house, agency or freelance team to execute the plan and/or manage any tactical adaptations that may be needed as circumstances change. Where required, we will bring in additional resource to help support with specific activations. 

Our dedicated project managers will ensure work is on brand, on time and on budget, accumulating channel-specific reports into business-critical numbers (e.g. revenue, marketing efficiency ratio, average customer lifetime value, churn rate, net promoter score, opportunities to view) on a regular basis and provide actionable reports on what we’re seeing.

We will happily present a summary of work completed and numbers achieved to investors.
